π Fantastic news for health research in the Netherlands!
The Netherlands Cohort Consortium (NCC) will receive over 17 million euros from the Dutch Research Council (NWO) to strengthen collaboration across nearly all Dutch university medical centers, the RIVM, and Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. Thanks to this grant, the consortium will be able to conduct large-scale research on how and why people age healthy, and what can be done to prevent diseases.
πTogether, we are building one national mega-cohort β a unique research infrastructure combining research data from almost half a million participants! By bringing together this research data, we create a powerful source of knowledge about health, lifestyle, environment, and aging.
The HELIUS study is also part of this! The other participating cohorts include: Lifelines, Rotterdam Study (ERGO), The Maastricht Study, HELIUS, LASA, EPIC-NL, NEO, Netherlands Twin Register, Leiden Longevity Study, Utrecht Health Project, and the Doetinchem Cohort Study.
